Everyone needs to have an exercise routine. Staying healthy depends largely on staying active. A great way to achieve optimal health is to combine sport and physical recreation. Think outside the box and nontraditional activities can be considered sport. This way you’ll have all kinds of options to choose from.

Sports such as soccer, baseball, basketball, football, and volleyball are all great activities to participate in. Not only do you get exercise, but you can also form friendships. Encouraging children to partake in games that involve sport and physical recreation is one way to help them stay active and healthy. Recreational sports also teach team work and sportsmanship to children, both of which are valuable tools they’ll need later in life. If your child shows an interest in joining a sport at school encourage them to go for it.

Hunting is an activity that you may not think of in terms of a sport, but ask any hunter how much exercise and exertion is involved in tromping through the woods looking for deer. Not to mention if you actually manage to kill the deer and have to drag it out of the woods. So hunting should be on your list of sport and physical recreation activities if you like that sort of thing.

Practice and enter a 5k run. Jogging has long been a favorite outdoor activity. Races are great recreational activities that let joggers put their best foot forward so to speak. A race can be considered a sport because there is a winner; whoever crosses the finish line first! If you enjoy jogging by all means include it in your sport and physical recreation program.

Join a bowling team. Bowling is a fun activity that people of all ages enjoy. If your employer has a bowling team you can combine physical activity and getting to know your co-workers in one place. Kids like bowling also, so setting a day each month to go bowling as a family is a great idea.

Some other activities you might want to consider are:

• Biking: Get your biking shorts on, practice for a while, and then join a bike race. This offers great exercise and a way to see the country side.

• Frisbee: Playing Frisbee with your family, friends, and even your dog is great exercise. They even have Frisbee teams and events now that you might like to get in to.

• Horseshoes: This is another nontraditional sport you might like to try. You could set some pegs up in your backyard and turn this into a neighborhood activity.

As you can see, there are different ways to combine sport and physical activity that are fun and offer great exercise benefits. Now you just have to pick the one’s you like best and get to work!

National Parks Recreation Camping Survival Guide

When it comes to national parks recreation camping, there is more than just bringing a sleeping bag and tent to the great outdoors. The most successful camping trips are well-planned, as it takes quite a bit of effort to survive an evening in our national parks and forests.

You have to be prepared for emergency situations. What if you get lost? Would you know how to survive and find your way back or signal for help? What about encountering wild animals? Would you know what to do if you were faced with an angry bear caught raiding your food at night?

Plan your route before you leave. Collect any useful map you will need for this trip. Road maps, trail maps, and park maps detailing the national park system of the park you’d be visiting.

Be sure that you check the weather forecast before you head out, and then pack accordingly. Try to plan your trip for a time that will be dry: it is simply not as much fun to explore the outdoors if it is raining. Even if rain is not in the forecast, you should still pack your gear with foul weather in mind. Better to have brought too much gear than not enough.

Bring a First Aid Kit. This kit should be equipped with anything that could be useful for any sort of minor injury that could result from camping in our national parks and forests. The kit should include antiseptic, gauze, bandages, insect repellent, sunscreen, pain relievers, tweezers, and a pair of scissors.

Make room for emergency supplies. National parks recreation camping sometimes can take a turn for the worse if you or a member of your group get lost or injured within a national park system.

Take a compass, extra water, flashlight, knife, whistle, high energy food like energy bars, waterproof matches or fire starter fluid, an extra change of warm clothes, and bug spray.

Keep all trash sealed. While camping in one of the country’s many national parks and forests, do not leave any trash behind and recycle anything you can. Conversely keep all food sealed and hid away.

In Taiwan sports recreation has become increasingly popular, hardly surprising when you consider that it was in 2001 that the two-day weekend was first introduced. Legislation decreased a five and a half day working week, down to five days. This saw more Taiwanese have spare time in which to pursue recreational activities.

There was a sudden growth in Taiwan sports recreation and group activities were and are especially popular. A large number of teams were created to compete against each other, often organised by schools, local companies and government offices. Basketball and softball in particular have become extremely popular, though soccer and baseball have only had limited take up so far. Ballet training is a kind of boot camp. Especially a summer or other holiday intensive. There is no complaining about heavy schedules, schedule conflicts, demanding teachers, sore toes or aching legs. Everyone is jubilant to be there.

No one has to explain to another dancer why they are there, why they love dance. Everyone else understands the blood, sweat and tears of it. The agony and the ecstasy…shall I go on? The good, the bad and the….nitty gritty.

I spent many years in ballet schools where the chosen very few got picked to be trained. In fact, as time progressed, the ballet staffs I worked with knew less and less about how to train all but the very few, because it was no longer required of them.

Gradually evolution swung back again in favor of the recreational ballet dancer, and as schools grew, non-professional courses were accommodated better than before. And the fact that there are now so many full-time teachers’ courses, that shows the cultural appreciation for well-taught classical ballet and other dance styles.

Many adult late starters choose ballet for fitness classes. They get a full-body workout, a kind of pace, or interval training, and stretching. Along with all of that, women and men in ballet get to experience their own capacity for artistry and elegance.

Dedication in dance shows up in all of these individuals who make the base of dance in our cultures. After all, who is putting out $150+ for the tickets every season? While I occasionally read a snarky comment on the fans’ forums, the general attitude toward the favorite ballerinas and premiers danseurs is more like worship.

I went to a local dance recital and saw the most amazing accomplishments on stage, by students who would have been considered totally unteachable in a more elite school. Which proves the point I’ve always made - if you don’t tell someone they cannot do something, they will, in their ignorance, go ahead and learn how to do it.

It takes special teachers to draw the talent and finer details of artistry out of a highly strung, perfectionist, self-doubting top-talent professional student.

It also takes special teachers who will get a whole school of lesser or “ugly-duckling” ballet students, motley crews of physiques and late starter men in ballet, to perform excerpts from the classical ballets in their recitals with considerable polish.

Taiwan Sports Recreation Show

The Taiwan Sports Recreation Show is one of the newest exhibition shows for the recreation and leisure market. It is so new in fact that the exhibition in July 2008 will only be the second annual event.

Held in the Taipei World Trade Centre Nangang Exhibition Hall, the Taiwan Sports Recreation Show is a great way of manufacturers to show off their services and products to the recreation and leisure market. The 2007 show saw one hundred and sixty Taiwanese and foreign manufacturers invited to show off their wares through five hundred and thirty booths. The four day event saw twenty thousand customers and members of the public looking through the hall at all there was on offer. The event also saw some one hundred overseas buyers, looking for products to purchase for their business enterprises.

The 2008 Taiwan Sports Recreation Show promises to be even bigger. Organised by the External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), a semi-official organisation, has invited more manufacturers, and hopes to build on the successes of the previous year. The event is scheduled to be bigger and there is much more advertising of the event this year. More manufacturers and more customers will mean that it will be one of the biggest recreation and leisure exhibitions anywhere in the world.

The Taiwan Sports Recreation Show is primarily aimed at the trade market, although members of the public are invited to purchase direct from manufacturers as well. The show is split into five main themes aimed at showing off the best that Taiwan has to offer, these themes are; Fitness and Leisure Centre, Home Entertainment, Recreation Vehicle, Sporting Equipment and Sportswear. This means that there is truly wide range of products on offer from Swiss Army Knives to Home Theatre systems. Some of the biggest exhibits include All Terrain Vehicles (ATV), whilst some of the smallest are based around sporting balls and other accessories, things like pool balls. Many theme parks, leisure and fitness centres will also be found exhibiting at the Taiwan Sports Recreation Show.

For members of the public the Taiwan Sports Recreation Show is a great way to spend a day, the variety means that you can be kept entertained for hours. The Taiwan Sports Recreation Show though is aimed primarily at the trade market, it may not be so much fun for representatives but it is a great way to find out what manufacturers are currently offering.
